Women in Leadership: Strong and Warm at sHero APAC
Attending sHero APAC summit didn't leave me wondering - it reassured my belief that we can embody both warmth and strengths, and we can be approachable and assertive, agreeable and ambitious. In a world that often pushes women to choose between liked or being respected, this insightful sharing dismantled that false choice. Conversations around empowering female consumers and redefining leadership choices, our future for women made it clear: we don't need to downplay our drive to fit in, nor our warmth to lead effectively. We can lead with empathy and confidence, bring kindness and ambition into the same space, and create a new standard where we are unapologetically both. This summit was a powerful testament to sisterhood. Being surrounded by trailblazing women across Asia Pacific, dedicated to amplifying each other's voices, was nothing short of inspiring. The energy, stories, the vision share was a beautiful reminder of strength, resilience, and influence we bring to every space we enter.

Infinity Strengths Vietnam Course - September 2024
Greatness isn’t achieved alone.
True entrepreneurship is about collaboration, a principle that Nhi Le and Danny Loong in Vietnam live by. Collaboration means trust, openness to challenges, and the willingness to learn from every voice, be it a peer or a student. Working alongside inspiring partners like Denise, Alex, Pauline, Melvin Soh, and Nhi Le, we turn simple ideas into bold actions.
Language barriers may arise, but real connection goes beyond words. With shared vision and commitment, language becomes a bridge, not an obstacle. This is the magic of human connection: it’s not just what we say, but how we show up together.
We’re excited to keep unlocking the potential of Vietnam’s future leaders through meaningful collaboration. Welcome to Community Slashie!

Fostering a Learning Culture with Resilient Leaders
Hearing "What are we learning next?" is the best reward after a workshop—it shows real commitment to growth. Through the Resilient Leadership Series at SMU Academy, I’ve seen an inspiring dedication to resilience and innovation.
Companies that invest in learning see big returns: up to a 50% rise in retention and 37% higher engagement. Leaders who prioritize learning spark a culture of growth.
To build this momentum, focus on:
*Encouraging Curiosity: Create a safe space for exploration and questions.
*Providing Diverse Training: Keep learning relevant and engaging.
*Recognizing Efforts: Balance learning with fun and recognition.
Building Character over Career: A Journey with Young Leaders
In today’s world, we’re often fixated on prepping the next generation for career success. But while a career can open doors, it’s character that defines how we walk through them. At Respect SG, we’re shifting the focus toward nurturing compassion, resilience, and empathy through our Respect Work Attachment & Mentoring Program (RWAP). Seeing these qualities blossom in students from Fairfield Methodist, Chua Chu Kang, and Nanyang Girls Secondary Schools has been inspiring.
During the program, I asked one of the students, Jessica, “What does respect mean to you?” She responded thoughtfully: “Respect is about making another person feel cared for.” It was a beautiful insight, and I couldn’t have been prouder of this group of young leaders, embodying the true spirit of hospitality.
Our three-week RWAP program isn’t just about career prep—it’s about sparking inspiration. We aim to equip students with the courage to dream big and connect them with industry mentors who model resilience and integrity. Watching these students grow, I am reminded that when we invest in character, we’re shaping leaders who will leave a lasting impact, wherever their careers may take them..

How Do You Make People Love Your Brand? Insights from Richard Eu
It’s a question every business owner wonders: How do you make people love your brand? Recently, during the Resilient Leadership Workshop at SMU Academy, we had the privilege of exploring this topic with Mr. Richard Eu, Group Chairman of Eu Yan Sang. His answer was straightforward yet profound—leadership, he explained, is all about "walking the talk" and treating people with respect.
According to Richard, building brand loyalty goes beyond compensation. People don’t just follow a leader because of a paycheck; they’re drawn to a vision, a set of values that resonate on a personal level. This connection creates an unspoken social contract—employees aren’t there just for a job, but for a shared purpose.
Having Richard as our guest speaker was both an honor and an inspiration. His insights sparked a lively discussion, and the class responded with curiosity and genuine enthusiasm for growth. The session was a reminder that building a brand people love starts from within—with leadership that inspires, vision that connects, and a commitment to treating people well.
Looking forward to more inspiring sessions and shared journeys!
Inspired by Purpose: Awi Rafael at SMU Academy
We were truly starstruck—not just by Awi Rafael’s fame, but by his clarity of purpose. Guided by three simple questions from his mom (What? Who? How?), Awi reflects deeply on his mission, asking himself if he’s living in alignment with his values and purpose.
Seeing his passion firsthand, especially in his work with special needs students at APSN schools, was inspiring. His dedication reminds us that true leadership is about aligning our actions with our purpose.
Thank you to Awi Rafael and Danny Loong for an unforgettable session filled with positivity and growth!
